Dr. Ann Marie VanDerZanden

Dr. Ann Marie VanDerZanden is an Associate Professor of Horticulture at Iowa State University. In her academic career she has taught a range of horticulture courses and is currently teaching Principles of Garden Composition, Beginning Garden Composition Studio, Landscape Construction and Establishment, and Landscape Contracting and Estimating.

She is also an extension specialist for the nursery and landscape industry. Her research interests include undergraduate pedagogy and using new technology to enhance the learning experiences of students and horticulture professionals.

She is a frequent contributor to regional and national horticulture magazines and has an extensive speaking schedule on a variety of horticultural topics. She published her first textbook in July 2007, titled Landscape Design: Theory and Application. Her second text, Mathematics for the Green Industry is scheduled to be published in April, 2008.

She lives in Ames, Iowa with her husband, two young children, and a big yellow lab.
